Welcome to St. Lazarus
"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live."
- John 11:25
Welcome to St. Lazarus Orthodox Chapel, a chapel of the Orthodox Church in America serving the Grand Forks area. We are a small but growing community dedicated to bringing the ancient Christian faith to the Red River Valley.
Whether you are Orthodox and new to the area, curious about Orthodoxy, or simply seeking a spiritual home, we warmly invite you to join us. The Orthodox Church welcomes all who seek Christ.
Divine Services
Divine Liturgy
Monthly - Please contact us or join our Band group for the current schedule
The Divine Liturgy is the central worship service of the Orthodox Church, where we gather to receive the Holy Eucharist and participate in the mystical Body of Christ.
What to Expect
Orthodox worship may be unfamiliar if you're visiting for the first time. The service is liturgical, with much singing, incense, and standing (though sitting is available). Don't worry about following along perfectly - simply come, observe, and let the beauty of the worship speak to your heart. We're happy to answer any questions after the service.

About Orthodoxy
The Orthodox Church is the original Christian Church, tracing its lineage directly to the Apostles and maintaining unchanged the faith, worship, and spiritual life handed down from the earliest Christians.
With over 300 million members worldwide, the Orthodox Church is the second-largest Christian communion. In North America, the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) was granted autocephaly (self-governance) in 1970, making it a fully independent Orthodox church on this continent.
St. Lazarus Orthodox Chapel is a chapel under the Diocese of the Midwest, one of the territorial dioceses of the OCA. We operate under the spiritual guidance of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Fargo, ND.
The Orthodox faith is characterized by:
- Ancient liturgical worship rich in beauty and symbolism
- The seven Holy Sacraments (Mysteries)
- Veneration of icons as windows to heaven
- A deep tradition of prayer, fasting, and spiritual discipline
- Unchanged apostolic teaching and doctrine
We invite you to come and see!
